Champagne Regiment

Actions on the day at Blenheim

The Champagne regiment were part of Marquis de Blanville’s Corps on the French Left Wing. They were part of the Elector’s army although it’s probably true that they were more directly controlled by Marshall Marsin. There were in fact 3 battalions of the Champagne regiment at the battle and all were stationed together within the Marquis de Bligny’s Brigade.

The Maquis’s Brigade formed the main defence of the village of Oberglauheim along with the the Marquis de Nagis’s Brigade.
