About

Like most wargamers of my age my first wargaming experiences were with unpainted plastic airfix figures.

However I probably really started much later in my early twenties.

One of my first armies was a French Marlburian army using Dixon’s wonderful 15mm range.  Some years later I moved away from the area I lived and away from my opponents who had the British and their allied armies. So I added the British to my own collection to give me enough troops of my own to stage a battle or two.

I’ve always been fascinated by the eighteenth century as a wargames period and I think it’s much overlooked by wargamers.

As a period there is such a vast array of colourful uniforms to keep you entertained and there is also a wealth of information for you to research into the period. I’m always learning more.

Recently I decided to give my painting a purpose and the Battle of Blenheim struck me as a perfect painting challenge in 15mm. I soon realised that it would require a huge amount of figures however as I love painting the Dixons range I see this more as hours of fun rather than hours of work.

My plan is to use this blog to keep track of the units as I paint them and hopefully you the reader will encourage me along the way with comments on the blog.

I already have lots more figures painted than I have listed here on the blog but I’ve decided not to put up any pictures until each unit is fully based. So watch this space!
